wow, an update
Jan. 9th, 2007 10:38 amI should probably start with a recap...
Before Christmas (but after finals)
-I mainly sat around the house playing my Wii (with some Warcraft thrown in there). Wii Sports is fun and Zelda more than lived up to the hype. I haven't tried any of the downloadable games yet (that would require time to play them), but I am looking forward to some of them (the whole not being allowed to have a non-portable game system until the playstation means I missed out on a lot of games I wanted to play as a kid).
Christmas
-My parents got me a digital camera like I asked them for. It is a Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Elph. It happens to use SD memory cards which means I can also use the 1GB card they got for it in my Wii. They also got me a portable photo printer with carrying case (but no carrying case for the camera). The printer was unexpected, but might prove useful (I think the camera can directly print to it so I can potentially make good use of the printer's battery).
-My brother got me FFXII and some cash.
-My secret santa got me a scarf (which almost got creatively used as a kilt at the Kwanyulemaskah party). I say it beats a gift card, which is what I almost expected to get. Plus, since I've never owned a scarf before, I can play around with it like any 5 year old would.
New Years
-The THEM New Years party was a blast. Its always fun getting drunk (especially off of an E-chan special). Plus there is all that other fun stuff that happened before and after I was drunk (I'm not sure what I can mention even though I remember it all). If only I was allowed to take pictures...
After New Years
-I've been playing FFXII with some Warcraft thrown in. I have over 100 hours in FFXII and I still haven't beaten it (I probably would of beaten it already if I didn't go out of my way for some of the sidequest). It is set in Ivalice (the same world as FF Tactics Advanced), it has a decent plot, your not forced to use any particular character when fighting, your characters are not forced into any particular role (the license system basically lets you decide what each character can do), and the optional hunts and bosses add some challenge (especially if you go after some of them right when you unlock them).
Current Stuff
-I registered for classes today (love being a grad student where I don't have problems getting into classes this close to the start of the semester). I have classes only on Tuesday/Thursday (albeit I will probably be working on Monday and Wednesday), even though one of them is a 9:15am (I am hoping the teacher ops not to have a final since 7:40am finals suck). However, I am done with classes by 3pm.
-The house I am living in is being put up on the market (I've known this is was going to happen for awhile now). Eventually I am going to have to find another place to live (the eventually is because there is another house in the neighborhood that is the same model and has apparently been on the market for 7 months). Of course, I should probably decide what I'm going to do before eventually roles around. I can continue to have Kris as a roommate (I have no problems with him as a roommate and I know what looking he has done, he has done under this assumption), I can go at it solo (won't have to worry about roommates but then everything is my responsibility like chores instead of sharing it with someone else), or I can be roommates with other people (this last one is more of what opportunities present themselves).
Other Stuff
-I still need to do some post X-mas shopping. I would like a carrying case of some sorts for my camera (so I have someplace to put stuff like the battery charger and the link cable). I want to get FFIII even though I don't have the time to play it (so I have it for when I do have the time). There is also that new Dune book that I want (so I have something to read that doesn't deal with computers).
-I keep forgetting to set up a dentist appointment (I hope I can still get in for January so my next one lands in August).
-I am still not sure whether or not I want to finish this degree. I am thinking of talking to the CSE grad advisor sometimes next week to see just how much longer I have to go classes-wise. I will probably use that to help me determine whether or not I should finish this degree or switch over to that one post-bachelor program for people who want to teach high school. Either way, I still plan on completing this semester.
Now I should probably get to bed since I really need to stop with the whole staying up late thing seeing as how I have a 9:15am class starting next week.
