Random things about Boston...
-heard a guy complain in the elevator about it being too hot outside (it was only in the high 80s)
-they actually have free plays (Taming of the Shrew is playing on the Boston Commons through Aug 13th; too bad I could never make the showtimes).
-the drivers here are insane. Most drivers go between flooring it and stopping suddenly (usually honking at what stopped them if its a vehicle). They also loosly observe lane lines (if there is just enough of a gap between the lanes for them to slip though and get ahead of the person they are behind, they will do it). Then there is just how aggressive the divers are.

Stuff at Siggraph...
-In emerging technologies, they have a booth where they are creating graphics in mid-air by intersecting lasers to create plasma.
-In the art show, there is a piece that is an electromagnet floating in liquid that is full of metal bits. The magnetic field of the magnet is constantly changing causing interesting effects like the metal bits climbing onto the magnet is a spiral type pattern.

Some stuff in the Guerilla Studio...
-one of the laser scanners we have this year is this one. The scanner is fast, easy to use, and is just so much easier than ones where you have to worry about registration.
-This year we have a resin based 3d-printer. The resin is a light sensitive liquid that turns solid when exposed to certain wavelengths of light. The printer prints in layers, with the parts being built on the underside of the build platform. I printed my face can I had from last year on this.
-Some new people in the studio this year are OGLE. I now have Tregar and Roguster extracted out of WoW.
-2d printing was the same with its large scale prints (on high quality printers). I got my X-wing pic from last year printed at 22in by 16.5in (or thereabouts).
-one of these years I should put something together for motion capture.
-I really need to find the time to get a lenticular print made (as well as something to get it of)

Im sure there is other things that I missed that I will remember at some other time, but for now, back to work.
