Microsoft and their stealth updates
Apr. 25th, 2006 06:05 pmWhat part does "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them" does Microsoft not understand. While "Update for Windows XP (KB900485)" is something I would of installed after being prompted, installing it without asking me for permission is rather annoying. I should not have to log in to Microsoft Update and check my update history to figure out what in the world you just installed on my computer. I should not have to notice the little icon beside shut down indicating that updates will be fully applied after shutting down to find out I've been updated. I wonder how long until someone figures out how to use this "stealth update" trick in an exploit.
