Oct. 14th, 2003 08:28 pmI've started reading The Duchess of Malfi and I am liking it a lot. Just look at these colorful quotes...
"I would have their bodies
Burnt in a coal-pit with the ventage stopped,
That cursed smoke might not ascend to Heaven
Or dip the sheets they lie in in pitch or sulpher,
Wrap them in 't, and then light them like a match;
Or else to boil their bastard to a cullis,
And give 't his lecherous father to renew
The sin of his back."
-The Dutchess of Malfi, Act II, Scene V
"He does not want your counsel, but your head;
That is, he cannot sleep till you be dead."
-The Dutchess of Malfi, Act III, Scene V.
and to think this is a 17th century play thats not Shakespeare
