my internet is back. O and so is my cable. Apparently what happened was someone worked on my neighbor's cable and in the process disconnected me. So the tech fixed that then noticed that I'm transmitting too high or something like that (I'm currently at 51 dBmV for those who might know what in the world that might mean). It works, but they are going to do a new drop to make it better sometime in the near future (it requires digging).

Your modem is transmitting at 51 decibel-millivolts towards the head-end. Which is well within range for the various signaling types within the DOCSIS 2.0 standard (+8 - +53). But then again if you start adding splitters or longer cables to this, you might have problems. A splitter adds about 3dBmV of attenuation to the line.

Just saying. :)

when he had tried the other drop (there is one for me and one for my neighbor), it was 54. Currently I am hooked up by splitter to the same one my neighbor is using.
