semi-annoyance
May. 6th, 2008 02:46 pmSo I went out to my car today and found my front passenger-side window broken. Someone had made a hole in the window, unlocked the door, then pilfered through my glove box and trunk.
The thing is, I didn't find anything missing. My stereo player is a cassette deck that they didn't touch. The glove box mess was a bunch of contents just dumped on the floor so they could see that there isn't anything of value in the glove box. The trunk mess was my old gym bag being opened and my box of magic cars being ajar. The most valuable thing in my car at the moment (well other than the car itself) is that box of magic cards that didn't seem to have anything missing (its my box of decks that I haven't looked at for about 2 years).
I suppose the lack of having anything stolen is what is keeping me from being rather annoyed about having to replace my window. On the other hand, the lack of anything traceable being stolen means there isn't even a real reason to file a police report. Quite frankly, given how the window was broken and the door opened, it looked like the perpetrator used gloves.
I'm just glad I don't keep anything of value in my car.

Date: 2008-05-07 02:40 am (UTC)It makes me glad that my window doen't roll up...if people are tempted to search through my car, they don't have to destroy anything to realize that there's nothing worth stealing in there (unless they really need an atlas or a hairbrush, lol).

I had basically the same thing happen to me about 13 years ago...except that the thief managed to miss that under the cruft in the passenger footwell was my $600 Alpine 7618 removable head unit (which I'd gotten tired of carrying inside).
